“I tried to demystify the RBI, to do away with the central bank’s image as a killer of growth”; said Dr. D Subbarao at the Centre for Public Policy Research’s 12 Quarterly Lecture on “Who Moved my Interest Rate?”. The lecture was conducted on 9th August 2016.
In the talk Dr D Subbarao shared his experience being the head of India’s apex bank for five turbulent years starting from Global Financial Crisis in 2008 to taper tantrum 2013.
Dr Duvvuri Subbarao served as governor of the Reserve Bank of India for five years (2008-13). Prior to that, he was finance secretary to Government of India (2007-08), and secretary to the Prime Minister’s Economic Advisory Council (2005-07). In a career spanning thirty-five years, he held various positions in the state Government of Andhra Pradesh and in the federal Government of India and was actively involved in formulating and implementing economic and financial sector reforms at the national and subnational levels. Subbarao is currently a Distinguished Visiting Fellow at the National University of Singapore
