India Development Indicators is an initiative by the Development Metrics group at the Centre for Development Finance (CDF), IFMR with CPPR. The initiative is supported by Google.org, the philanthropic arm of Google.com, under its “Inform and Empower” programme. This initiative seeks  to disseminate available development data at the district level, highlight the development issues and understand the regional differences in development achievement at the level of the district.
IDI aims at developing an index on the lines of the World Development Index. 260 indicators have been identified under 14 different sectors for the purpose of calculating this index. The sectors include agriculture, animal husbandry, demography, democracy and empowerment, economy, education, environment, geography, health, industry, infrastructure, labour, public services and social entrepreneurship. India Development Indicators is an online platform that leverages existing investments in data by standardizing, harmonizing, and visualizing development data at various resolutions such as state, district, parliamentary constituency etc. The site allows users to visualize indicators using maps, charts, rankings, etc
CDF has partnered with Centre for Public Policy Research to achieve this mission in selected states like Kerala, Karnataka, Pondicherry, Andhra Pradesh, Orissa, Maharashtra, Gujarat Bihar, Jharkhand, Goa, Delhi, West Bengal, Assam, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Manipur, Arunachal Pradesh, Sikkim, Tripura, Nagaland, Jammu & Kashmir and Dadra Nagerhavelli.
