About the International Conference
The two day Conference on ‘US Rebalance and Asia Pacific’ organised by CPPR Centre for Strategic Studies in association with US Consulate General in Chennai is been organised in a crucial time given the significant developments brought by President Obama’s visit to India recently. India will need to strategise and plan its actions to stay relevant and strengthen its diplomatic relations in the region. The Conference will deliberate on various aspects of US rebalancing including China’s role in the region. It will witness several renowned scholars and thought leaders from India and abroad discussing the various aspects of the theme.
Inauguration
The Conference will be inaugurated by Mr M.K.Narayanan who was the former Governor of West Bengal, former National Security Advisor and Former Director of Intelligence Bureau. Mr. C.G Phillip Min, US Consul General US Consulate General of Chennai and Dr. D Dhanuraj, founder Chairman of CPPR will be speaking during the inaugural session.
The Conference is preceded with 3 session along with a Plenary Session by Mr. Murray Hiebert, Senior Fellow and Deputy Director, Sumitro Chair for Southeast Asian Studies, Center for Strategic and International Studies. CPPR – CSS will also be releasing their second book titled, ‘Energy Security Challenges – Non Traditional Security Planning in India ’ during the inaugural function of the conference.

The Conference is a part of the endeavour by CPPR Centre for Strategic Studies in the area of security and strategy to develop and disseminate knowledge on the areas identified. CPPR has successfully hosted two International Conferences on Non-Traditional Security and Energy Security. This Conference is aligned to the larger mandate of the country and the region in defining its strategic relation with USA.
