Mr J.M Lyngdoh, Former Election Commissioner will deliver the next CPPR Quarterly Lecture on October 4th, 2013 at Kochi. Mr Lyngdoh known for its uprightness have also headed the Committee to study Campus Politics in India; which paved way for a democratisation of student elections in India. He will talk on the topic “Decriminalisation of Indian Electoral system” which is a relevant and highly debated topic in India. CPPR has been keen in understanding and undertaking Research in the area of Elections, especially at the State level. The Campus Democracy Project undertaken by CPPR for Liberal Youth Forum in 2010 have been used as a major reference point in the area of election and political studies. James Michael Lyngdoh was former Chief Election Commissioner of India from June 14, 2001 to February 7, 2004. He was awarded the Ramon Magsaysay Award for Government Service in 2003. During this capacity he had moderated the Kashmir Elections and Gujarat Elections in 2002.
