Akanksha is a Senior Associate, Academy at Centre for Public Policy
Research (CPPR). She completed her graduation in Political Science
from St. Xavier’s College, Mumbai and her post graduation in
International Studies from Durham University, UK. She wrote her
dissertation on India’s Nuclear Proliferation and its basis in India’s
Non-Alignment Policy. With her deep interest in global and national
politics she went on to work as a Political Consultant. She worked on
state elections like Gujarat, Chhattisgarh, Odisha and Haryana.
Simultaneously, she also worked on various state level and national
level policies and wrote reports on topics like Increasing Women’s
Labour Force Participation in India and India’s Burgeoning Gig
Economy. Beyond Politics, Psychology and Defence Studies, Akanksha
enjoys her weekend getaways, practicing yoga, baking, and chilling
Angela Cicily Joseph is a Senior Associate, Academy at Centre for Public Policy Research (CPPR). She completed her graduation in Sociology from St. Xavier’s College, Mumbai and her postgraduation in Applied Sociology from Christ (deemed to be) University, Bengaluru. Her postgraduation dissertation focused mainly on the Construction of Masculinity. During her studies, she worked on research projects in the fields of Livelihood, Education and Disaster Studies with the Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Mumbai. Prior to joining CPPR, Angela was with Affluenz Financial Services India Private Limited where she was involved in a research project on Financial Literacy and Inclusion. She also volunteers at schools to conduct gender sensitisation programmes. Her areas of interests include Diaspora Studies, Education, Livelihood and Social Demography.
Anisree Suresh is an Associate, Research and Client Management, at Centre for Public Policy Research (CPPR). She completed her B.A in Political Science from Carmel College, Goa and M.A in International Studies from School of International and Area Studies, Goa University. She has done a couple of research internships from reputed research institutions of IR. Her master’s dissertation was on BIMSTEC and Indo-Pacific and published a research paper on the same. Her research interests pertain to security studies, South Asia, Indo-Pacific, IR theory and gender.
April Suzanna Varkey is an Associate, Research at CPPR. She is a CA finalist and a B.Com. graduate with majors in Accountancy and Finance. As part of the chartered accountancy course, she did her three years of articleship from Sankar and Moorthy Chartered Accountants, Trivandrum. Her association with CPPR began with a two months’ internship as Research Intern. April is interested in engaging in activities that create a social impact. She has volunteered in the audio recording of books for The Kerala Federation of the Blind, edited a book on creating awareness among teachers and parents on online abuse of children and cyber security laws, for the Kerala Police Academy and has participated in the International Conference for Gender Equality – II as a rapporteur.
Anu Anna Jo is a Senior Associate, Research at CPPR. Anu, by qualification holds an M.sc. in Economics (specialised in Environmental Economics) from Madras School of Economics and B.A. Honors Economics from Jesus and Mary College, Delhi University. She has been associated with Madras School of Economics as a Research Assistant since 2018 on various projects. She has also interned with Dept. of Economic Affairs, Ministry of Finance, Government of India in 2014.
Anu Maria Francis is an Associate, Research at Centre for Public Policy Research (CPPR). She completed her graduation in Law from National University of Advanced Legal Studies, Kochi. She has worked as UPSC exam trainer and mentor with many coaching institutions in Kerala. She has also interned with a couple of organisations like Kerala State Information Commission, ACTIONAID India, Ceat Tyres Ltd, Biocon Pharma Ltd, Khaitan and Co Law Firm etc. Her academic interests pertain to legal and governance issues and education. She also has experience in handling business ventures.
Aravind Anand Shankar is Coordinator, Communications & Programmes at CPPR. He is part of the team responsible for branding and communication of the organisation. As part of his job profile, he has worked closely in promoting different research findings and events organised by CPPR. He has been associated with CPPR since the last 5 years in different roles like Senior Associate (PR & Communication), Research Assistant, and Operations and Programme Associate. Aravind has a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration. He has a keen interest in web designing & development and he is also passionate about photography and travelling.
<p style=”text-align:justify;”>Ashish Alex works as Senior Program Officer, Strategies and Operations at CPPR. He has a Post Graduate Diploma in Business Administration with specialisation in HR from Symbiosis, Pune. He previously worked as Senior Manager (Programmes) with Bharti Foundation, the philanthropic arm of Bharti Enterprises, where he provided leadership to improve quality of various educational initiatives of the organisation with a special focus on child safety and compliance. Some of the key areas of his 13 years of work involved project management, monitoring and evaluation, organisational compliance, child safety, leading and managing teams and partnerships. Being a sports buff, Ashish enjoys watching any sport where there is an Indian participation.</p>
Former Executive Director of Kerala State Literacy Mission, Special Private Secretary to Minister for Tourism, Fisheries and Excise, Government of Kerala, Project Chief at Kerala State Women’s Commission and Deputy General Manager of Kerala State Fisheries Federation. Dr Gopinath started his career in All India Radio, where he bagged National Award in Broadcasting followed by an overseas training programme in Advanced Communication by visiting England, Finland, Sweden, Denmark, Germany, Netherlands and Switzerland. He holds MSW and PhD degrees.
Jithin is a renowned lawyer whose expertise is in Banking laws, Civil laws and Constitutional matters with over 10 years of experience. He holds a BA LLB (Hons.) degree from the National University of Advanced Legal Studies, Kochi, Kerala and an LLM from M G University, Kottayam, Kerala.
Dr Martin Patrick secured his PhD in Applied Economics from the Cochin University of Science and Technology (CUSAT), Kochi. He has worked as faculty of Economics in various government colleges. He received post-doctoral training at Tilburg University, Netherlands. He has won the award of Excellence in Education instituted by the Global Society for Health and Educational Growth, New Delhi in 2006. He has completed various projects for ICSSR, CDS, Planning Board (Kerala for UNDP), KILA and GIFT (for World Bank). He has served as the member of graduate and postgraduate board of studies of Calicut University, CUSAT, Kalady University and Kerala University. Presently, he is a Visiting Fellow at Indian Maritime Institute, Ernakulam and Xavier Institute of Management and Entrepreneurship, Ernakulam.
J Paul Zachariah is Coordinator, Business Development and Partner Relations at CPPR. He works with the Chairman on the strategic development of CPPR and building partnerships. Paul is a blogger and writes for CPPR blog on topics like international relations and security. A graduate in Economics, he has also undergone training in NGO management at the Department of Training, YMCAs of India and International YMCA University of Applied Sciences in Germany. Before joining CPPR, he was the General Secretary and CEO of YMCA Thrissur for over 7 years. His interests are reading, travelling and photography.
Prasant is head of operations at CPPR. He comes with over 18 years of experience in the Corporate and Development sector. He looks after the daily administration of CPPR and oversees the projects and activities.
Preethi Joseph is a management graduate specialised in Sales & Marketing. She has worked across industries like Tourism, Finance, Medical & Media in the Business Development and Marketing domain with over a decade of work experience. Preethi has joined CPPR as the Senior Associate for Strategic Engagements. Before this, she was serving as a Brand Consultant for various enterprises in the state.
Rajasree Praveen is a Research Associate at CPPR with a background in Economics and Masters degree in Public Policy from the National Law School of India University Bangalore. She is the winner of several reputed debate and extempore competitions and the recipient of the prestigious SUSI scholarship by the United States department of State as part of which she has represented India at the World Women Leadership Conference 2017. She has completed training in Adaptive Leadership from the Leadership Institute of the University of Kansas. Having extensive internship and volunteer experience with governmental and non governmental organisations, she is the country leader of Global Law Thinkers Society-a World Record holder International NGO. She is an ardent animal lover who has been rescuing, fostering and parenting animals for over a decade.
Raju T Mathews has been working with CPPR since 2008. He has an MBA degree (with specialisation in Financial Management) from Berhampur University in 1988. He has more than two decades of experience working with various business organisations.
Reetika is a Senior Officer, Research at CPPR. She has a Ph.D in Political Science from Institute for Social and Economic Change, Bangalore, and was Assistant Professor at JAIN (Deemed-to-be) University, Bangalore, for more than 8 years, before joining the organisation. She has also worked as a Postdoctoral Fellow at Wageningen University & Research, The Netherlands and IIT- Delhi in 2018-19, on a project on Civil Society Advocacy with her research focusing on State-Civil Society Relations in Disaster Management in India. She is a part of the Lokniti Network in Delhi, and has been a part of various elections and democracy related studies, along with being a resource person for Lokniti’s Annual Summer School on Quantitative Data Analysis for more than a decade. Dr. Syal has presented papers at many international and national conferences, and has also published in journals and edited books. She was the International Consultant for Nepal Governance Survey, a study by the Nepal Planning Commission in 2017.
Salahuddin Ayyub is a Research Consultant at CPPR and has more than 10 years of research and teaching experience. He holds both graduate and postgraduate degrees in Economics and MPhil and PhD degrees in International Trade. He specialises in International Trade Policy research, International Relations and Islamic Studies. He has worked with Research and Information System for Developing Countries (RIS), Indian Institute of Foreign Trade, Centre for WTO Studies (Ministry of Commerce, Government of India), National University of Educational Planning and Administration (NUEPA) and Evalueserve – a multinational research firm. Salahuddin has published several research papers in renowned journals and books and regularly writes for magazines and newspapers on economic and social issues. He has an extensive list of presentations in esteemed national and international conferences. He has a good command of Urdu, Arabic, Hindi and English languages. He has worked for PwC, DFID (UK), Spices Board of India, APEDA, NITI Aayog, Ministry of Commerce, Ministry of Textiles, Ministry of MSME, World Bank, UNICEF and TNT.
Sharon Susan Koshy is a Research Associate at Centre for Public Policy Research (CPPR). She completed her Masters in IR and Political Science from Central University of Kerala, and MPhil in Political Science from the University of Hyderabad. For her MPhil thesis, she explored the themes of state and feminist negotiations in post-Arab Spring Egypt. Sharon had also secured the UGC-Junior Research Fellowship during her research period in Hyderabad and Chennai. Her academic interests pertain to IR theory, gender politics, refugee studies, intersectionality, and area studies of South Asia, West Asia and North Africa, and Indo Pacific.
Simy Mariyam George is an Associate, Outreach & Communications at Centre for Public Policy Research (CPPR). She completed her graduation in Journalism, Mass Communication and Video Production from Mar Ivanios College, Thiruvananthapuram, and her Postgraduate Diploma in Public Relations and Advertising from Kerala Media Academy, Kochi. She has interned with a couple of media firms like Radio Mirchi and Reeltribe working as a content producer. Her hobbies include reading, singing and Face Painting among other things.
Sherylene Rafeeque has been associated with CPPR as Consultant Editor since 2016. She has also managed media relations and programmes for the organisation briefly. A trained editor and author of several children’s books, she resides in Kochi. Sherylene earned her postgraduate degree in Visual Communication from Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham headquartered in Coimbatore, India.
Dr Swapna Jambhekar is a Research Consultant at CPPR and is closely involved in the research studies undertaken by CPPR. She graduated as Bachelor of Homoeopathic Medicine and Surgery (BHMS) from Mumbai University. After completing Post Graduate Diploma in Hospital Administration (PGDHA) from All India Institute of Local Self Government, she pursued Master of Hospital Administration (MHA) from Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Mumbai (TISS). Swapna is also a Fellow of Insurance Institute of India (FIII) and has worked with well-known bilateral and multilateral agencies in the areas of microinsurance and public health. Her work experience encompasses working at the grassroots level community mobilisation and training, implementation, administration, research, documentation and consulting.
Vivek has a master’s degree in Marketing from Dayalbagh Educational Institute(Deemed University) and a PG certification in Data Analytics from MICA, Ahmedabad. Prior to joining the CPPR, he worked with a Political Consultancy. He has a total of five years’ experience in the areas of capacity-building, nutrition, sustainable development and Business Development. His desire to contribute meaningfully to Public Policy prompted him to join CPPR.
