Akanksha Borawake is a Associate, Research at CPPR. She is a postgraduate in Economics from Gokhale Institute of Politics and Economics and has worked on research projects like ‘Voting patterns of people’ and ‘Environmental awareness among citizens of Pune’ for the annual college magazine Veritas. She has done her research internship at PricewaterhouseCoopers Pvt. Ltd. where she worked on monitoring and evaluation projects, assessing the impact of Maharashtra Agriculture Competitiveness Project and Agri Business Promotion Facility on its beneficiaries. Her broad areas of interest are Gender Studies, Education, Agriculture, Environmental Sustainability and Macroeconomics.
Angela Cicily Joseph is a Senior Associate, Academy at Centre for Public Policy Research (CPPR). She completed her graduation in Sociology from St. Xavier’s College, Mumbai and her postgraduation in Applied Sociology from Christ (deemed to be) University, Bengaluru. Her postgraduation dissertation focused mainly on the Construction of Masculinity. During her studies, she worked on research projects in the fields of Livelihood, Education and Disaster Studies with the Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Mumbai. Prior to joining CPPR, Angela was with Affluenz Financial Services India Private Limited where she was involved in a research project on Financial Literacy and Inclusion. She also volunteers at schools to conduct gender sensitisation programmes. Her areas of interests include Diaspora Studies, Education, Livelihood and Social Demography.
Aravind Anand Shankar is Coordinator, Communications & Programmes at CPPR. He is part of the team responsible for branding and communication of the organisation. As part of his job profile, he has worked closely in promoting different research findings and events organised by CPPR. He has been associated with CPPR since the last 5 years in different roles like Senior Associate (PR & Communication), Research Assistant, and Operations and Programme Associate. Aravind has a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration. He has a keen interest in web designing & development and he is also passionate about photography and travelling.
Deepthi Mary Mathew is a Consultant, Research at CPPR. She writes on topics related to education, public finance, financial markets and international trade and has published many articles and papers on these topics. Deepthi has done her post-graduation in Economics from the University of Kerala and is pursuing her PhD in Economics from Gokhale Institute of Politics and Economics, Pune.
Former Executive Director of Kerala State Literacy Mission, Special Private Secretary to Minister for Tourism, Fisheries and Excise, Government of Kerala, Project Chief at Kerala State Women’s Commission and Deputy General Manager of Kerala State Fisheries Federation. Dr Gopinath started his career in All India Radio, where he bagged National Award in Broadcasting followed by an overseas training programme in Advanced Communication by visiting England, Finland, Sweden, Denmark, Germany, Netherlands and Switzerland. He holds MSW and PhD degrees.
Goutham K A is a Associate, Project at CPPR. He started his career as an Assistant Manager (Security) in South Indian Bank Ltd, dealing with security-related projects of the institution, submission of reports to the RBI and interdepartmental communication. He is a Computer Science and Engineering graduate from Government Engineering College, Thrissur and currently pursuing post-graduation in Political Science and International Relations from Indira Gandhi National Open University. Goutham is a frequent traveller, photography enthusiast and interested in regional, national and international political developments.
Husna is a Software Engineer with a master’s degree in Human Resource Management. She has worked in different industries like Information Technology, Pharmaceuticals and Retail across India and in the UAE. Her role in CPPR is primarily Recruitment and other HR functions. She is also responsible for coordinating the CPPR Academy activities. She is fond of Literature, Music and also tries her hand at painting and crafting, among other hobbies.
Jithin is a renowned lawyer whose expertise is in Banking laws, Civil laws and Constitutional matters with over 10 years of experience. He holds a BA LLB (Hons.) degree from the National University of Advanced Legal Studies, Kochi, Kerala and an LLM from M G University, Kottayam, Kerala.
Lakshmi Ramamurthy works as a Market Analyst with CPPR. She was involved in various projects such as Livelihood Project in Chennai, Slum Survey in Chennai, Study on Para-transit system in Chennai and Campus Democracy in India. She has a postgraduate degree in Econometrics from the University of Madras, Chennai. Lakshmi has over 13 years of data analytics experience working in IT, Retail, Insurance and Public Policy. At present, she is managing the data and analysis department for CBHS (Comm Bank Health Sector) in Australia.
Manoj is a policy enthusiast having expertise in Coalition Building & Strategic Partnership Development, he has served in various senior roles at several Indian and international non-profit organisations. He is the founder and promoter of Policy Talks based in New Delhi and an advisory member to the Amity Institute of Public Policy at Amity University, Noida. He was also the Policy Project Consultant for the Delhi-NCR Region for CPPR for many years. Manoj was involved in various UN consultations and facilitated youth workshops in post-conflict societies in Africa & Asia. He was instrumental in championing the policy reforms in the Bamboo sector in India during his engagement as a key member of the senior management team at Centre for Civil Society. Manoj is well travelled, worked and lived in Manila and Paris engaged in global advocacy for addressing student poverty and peace building. He is a graduate in both Commerce, and Journalism and Communication and has 19 years of extensive experience in non-profit sector and volunteers for several initiatives.
Dr Martin Patrick secured his PhD in Applied Economics from the Cochin University of Science and Technology (CUSAT), Kochi. He has worked as faculty of Economics in various government colleges. He received post-doctoral training at Tilburg University, Netherlands. He has won the award of Excellence in Education instituted by the Global Society for Health and Educational Growth, New Delhi in 2006. He has completed various projects for ICSSR, CDS, Planning Board (Kerala for UNDP), KILA and GIFT (for World Bank). He has served as the member of graduate and postgraduate board of studies of Calicut University, CUSAT, Kalady University and Kerala University. Presently, he is a Visiting Fellow at Indian Maritime Institute, Ernakulam and Xavier Institute of Management and Entrepreneurship, Ernakulam.
Neethu R Nair is the Lead, Outreach & PR at CPPR. She is a Young India Fellow and has completed her Post Graduate Diploma in Liberal Studies from Ashoka University, Sonipat. She began her journey in social impact sector as Senior Associate – Advocacy at Janaagraha Center for Citizenship and Democracy. Here, she worked on stakeholder communication strategy and was instrumental in advocating City-Systems framework through presentations to city leaders and public officials of Karnataka, handling media outreach through newsletters, policy briefs as well as social media handles and in contributing to the Bengaluru Blueprint report. Neethu is a Civil Engineering graduate from NIT- Durgapur and worked as Associate Manager in the Thermal Power Vertical of McNally Bharat Engineering prior to her venture into the public policy realm. She is a firm believer of inter-disciplinary learning and an urban policy enthusiast.
Nissy Solomon is a Senior Associate, Research at CPPR. She has a background in Economics with a master’s degree in Public Policy from the National Law School of India University, Bangalore. After graduation and prior to her venture into the public policy domain, she worked as a Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Analyst with Nokia-Heremaps. Her postgraduate research explored the interface of GIS in Indian healthcare planning. She is broadly interested in Public Policy, Economic Development and Spatial Analysis for policymaking.
J Paul Zachariah is Coordinator, Administration & Partner Relations at CPPR. He works with the Chairman on the strategic development of CPPR and building partnerships. Paul is a blogger and writes for CPPR blog on topics like international relations and security. A graduate in Economics, he has also undergone training in NGO management at the Department of Training, YMCAs of India and International YMCA University of Applied Sciences in Germany. Before joining CPPR, he was the General Secretary and CEO of YMCA Thrissur for over 7 years. His interests are reading, travelling and photography.
Praseeda Mukundan is a Senior Associate, Research at CPPR. She is an Architect, and Urban and Regional Planner from the School of Planning and Architecture, Bhopal. Her current area of work includes studies related to the urban domain. Prior to joining CPPR, she was working as a Project Associate at IPE Global Limited for Thiruvananthapuram Smart City Project. Praseeda has also worked as a Young Professional (Consultant) for RURBAN Mission, Department of Panchayat and Rural Development, Government of Madhya Pradesh. She was involved in preparing Integrated Cluster Action Plan (ICAP) for Kirgi Cluster (Anuppur District, Madhya Pradesh). Her postgraduate research was on ‘Regulating Transit Oriented Development for Inducing Transit Friendly Housing: A Case Study of Kochi’. After graduation, she worked as an Architect at C-Earth Pvt. Ltd. Kochi. Her areas of interest are spatial planning, transport planning, economic development and sustainability in architecture.
Raju T Mathews has been working with CPPR since 2008. He has an MBA degree (with specialisation in Financial Management) from Berhampur University in 1988. He has more than two decades of experience working with various business organisations.
Salahuddin Ayyub is a Research Consultant at CPPR and has more than 10 years of research and teaching experience. He holds both graduate and postgraduate degrees in Economics and MPhil and PhD degrees in International Trade. He specialises in International Trade Policy research, International Relations and Islamic Studies. He has worked with Research and Information System for Developing Countries (RIS), Indian Institute of Foreign Trade, Centre for WTO Studies (Ministry of Commerce, Government of India), National University of Educational Planning and Administration (NUEPA) and Evalueserve – a multinational research firm. Salahuddin has published several research papers in renowned journals and books and regularly writes for magazines and newspapers on economic and social issues. He has an extensive list of presentations in esteemed national and international conferences. He has a good command of Urdu, Arabic, Hindi and English languages. He has worked for PwC, DFID (UK), Spices Board of India, APEDA, NITI Aayog, Ministry of Commerce, Ministry of Textiles, Ministry of MSME, World Bank, UNICEF and TNT.
Sara John works as Senior Associate, Projects at CPPR. She conducts research, contributes to proposal writing and writes articles on various public policy-related aspects. She had earlier worked as a Senior Project Associate at CPPR and has published many articles and papers. Sara has a Post Graduate Diploma in Rural Management from Institute of Rural Management Anand (IRMA), Gujarat. She is an art and crafts enthusiast.
Sherylene Rafeeque has been associated with CPPR as Consultant Editor since 2016. She has also managed media relations and programmes for the organisation briefly. A trained editor and author of several children’s books, she resides in Kochi. Sherylene earned her postgraduate degree in Visual Communication from Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham headquartered in Coimbatore, India.
Sreearavind S is an Associate, Public Relations and Communications at Centre for Public Policy Research. Sreearavind started his career as a content writer at Mathrubhumi Online and has also worked as a social media intern at Times Now, Noida. He is an English Literature graduate from Madras Christian College, Chennai and holds a Post Graduate Diploma in Journalism. He is currently pursuing in MA in Mass Communication and Journalism from Indira Gandhi National Open University. His areas of interest include cinema, literature and politics.
Dr Swapna Jambhekar is a Research Consultant at CPPR and is closely involved in the research studies undertaken by CPPR. She graduated as Bachelor of Homoeopathic Medicine and Surgery (BHMS) from Mumbai University. After completing Post Graduate Diploma in Hospital Administration (PGDHA) from All India Institute of Local Self Government, she pursued Master of Hospital Administration (MHA) from Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Mumbai (TISS). Swapna is also a Fellow of Insurance Institute of India (FIII) and has worked with well-known bilateral and multilateral agencies in the areas of microinsurance and public health. Her work experience encompasses working at the grassroots level community mobilisation and training, implementation, administration, research, documentation and consulting.
Varshini is a Project Assistant CPPR. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Economics, Political Science, Sociology from Christ (Deemed to be) University. Prior to joining CPPR, Varshini worked on a range of policy areas while interning at different organisations including NITI Aayog, Janaagraha, Greenpeace and PricewaterhouseCoopers. She takes a keen interest in researching and writing about domestic and international policy issues and has previously been published at The Diplomat, the International Policy Digest and The Geopolitics.
