CPPR
Centre for Public Policy Research (CPPR) is an independent, not-for-profit, public policy think tank dedicated to extensive and in depth research and scientific analysis with the objective of delivering actionable ideas that could transform society. Based out of Kochi, in the Indian state of Kerala, our engagement in public policy that began in 2004 has initiated open dialogue, policy changes and institutional transformation in the areas of Urban Reform, Livelihood, Education, Health, Governance, Law, and International Relations & Security.
FNF
The Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Freedom (FNF) is a non profit organisation promoting the ideas of liberal democracy, respect for human rights, good governance, economic freedom, and digital transformation.
About the Conference
As the Russia-Ukraine war started in February, the world’s economy was still recovering from the global pandemic crisis. The international bodies called for support from countries around the world. South Asia responded distinctively to this crisis. The responses range from neutrality to calling out on Russia’s Aggression: India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka abstained on the UNGA resolution while Bhutan, Nepal, Afghanistan and Maldives went along with the US led resolution. Nonetheless, these responses were tactical in nature and incapable of helping these states navigate through the new systemic and strategic shifts emanating from Russia’s invasion.
The evident consequence on the world has been:
● Constrained energy supply due to sanctions at a high cost
● Hampered trade linkages resulting into constrained supply of resources
● Threat of energy hegemonism and irreversible climate change
