Policy School 2015 organised by Centre for Public Policy Research (CPPR) and Atlas Leadership Academy (ALA) is set to start today. This year 12 participants from 10 countries will be undergoing a two-week intensive training in methods of Public Policy Research, at Cochin, during the most endearing and enjoyable season of the year. In the past, CPPR in collaboration with Atlas has successfully conducted Policy Schools that have won the acclaim of participants from 32 countries. The programme has been instrumental in shaping the research skills of think tank professionals, policy researchers, etc. Some of the alumni were able to influence the policy decisions in their home country after acquiring skills towards understanding public policy.

Dr K.N. Raghavan completed his MBBS from Calicut Medical College and went on to do post graduate studies in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at Trivandrum Medical College. In 1990 he joined the Indian Revenue Service (Customs and Excise).He worked as Assistant Collector (Central Excise) at Hosur and Assistant Director of Revenue Intelligence at Calicut. He served as Additional Commissioner of Customs at JNPT, Nhava Sheva, before moving to Singapore as first Secretary (Commerce) in Indian High Commission. In 2011 he was appointed as Additional Commissioner of Customs, Central Excise and Service tax, and later promoted as Commissioner of Customs, Kochi. Like most Indians, Raghavan is passionate about cricket. He is also an umpire accredited with BCCI and has umpired One Day International matches. He has also authored the book; World Cup Chronicle and Dividing Lines: Contours of India – China Conflict.
