The Kerala State Transport Department’s recent draft scheme notification dated May 17, 2023, to nationalise a critical route in Vypin, Kerala, disregarded the need for Vypin commuters. Although the draft notification states that the scheme aims to alleviate the lack of public transport in Vypeen and to provide efficient, adequate, economical, and properly coordinated road transport services in the region, an analysis of the draft scheme has proved otherwise. This comment looks into the provisions of the draft scheme and highlights the implications of them.
