D Dhanuraj, Chairman, Centre for Public Policy Research (CPPR), participated in a discussion on ‘Counter Point’ on Manorama News, where he spoke about reported differences within the Election Commission and questions surrounding the powers of the Chief Election Commissioner.

During the discussion, Dhanuraj referred to the 1995 Supreme Court judgment concerning the functioning of the Election Commission and said that the Chief Election Commissioner is the “first among equals” in the three-member Commission, without a separate veto power.
