As Kerala moves closer to the Assembly elections, evolving voter strategies and political narratives are beginning to shape the electoral landscape, particularly in closely contested constituencies.

According to D Dhanuraj, discussions around a perceived “BJP–CPI(M) deal” are gaining traction, especially in the context of consolidating minority votes while also influencing floating voters. He noted that the BJP’s role in the election may extend beyond seat victories, with its vote share potentially impacting outcomes through broader electoral dynamics.

Dhanuraj also cautioned that an overemphasis on such narratives could divert attention from more substantive issues such as governance and anti-incumbency sentiments. These factors, he suggested, are likely to play a crucial role in determining voter choices.

At the same time, he underscored the continued importance of CPI(M)’s organisational strength and disciplined cadre base, which remain key advantages in mobilising voters and shaping electoral outcomes.
