The Centre for Public Policy Research (CPPR), Kochi, is organising a stakeholder roundtable on Strengthening Public Bus Transport in Hubballi-Dharwad to present key findings from its national study, Role of Markets in the Indian Road Transport System.

Public bus transport remains the backbone of urban mobility in India, providing affordable and accessible travel for millions of commuters every day. As Hubballi-Dharwad continues to expand as a major urban centre, improving the efficiency, reliability and sustainability of its bus services is essential for supporting economic growth, reducing congestion and enhancing quality of life. The city’s Bus Rapid Transit System (BRTS) has demonstrated the potential of well-planned public transport to improve connectivity and reduce travel time, while also highlighting the importance of continuous service improvements and stakeholder engagement.

Insights from the discussion will contribute to CPPR’s ongoing research on public transport reforms and support evidence-based policy recommendations for strengthening bus services across Indian cities.
