“NDA has an early mover advantage” says Dr D Dhanuraj (Chairman, CPPR) in a live debate on 2014 election in one the leading news channel, Manorama News. He was analyzing the All India Exit Poll surveys released on May 12. He pointed that the efforts of Amit shah in UP and the silence of Naveen Patnaik of Odisha (favoring Modi) will be crucial and BJP has played their cards well with their first mover advantage in getting key allies including TDP in the south. Looking in to the past exit polls, it is understood that the error percentage of these polls are 10 percent which means that BJP is in strong contention of forming the next government at the Centre. The average seats that NDA gets as per the exit polls are 250. So, even with this 10% variation NDA can have a lead, he added. He said, Modi’s campaign  has been far ahead of others which will reflect on the results. He also analyzed that unlike in other parts of India, where there is a strong anti-congress movement; Kerala will elect the congress plus parties , which can be considered as a failure of the communist left parties to capitalize on the overall trend.
