D Dhanuraj, Chairman of the Centre for Public Policy Research (CPPR), shared his views on the need to revise Kochi’s existing bus routes and schedules in an article published by The Times of India. He noted that the city’s expansion, new transport infrastructure and changing travel patterns have created a need to identify new routes that can provide public transportation across the city.
Dhanuraj also pointed to limitations in the existing ‘point-to-point’ system, which often directs buses through heavily congested arterial roads. He suggested introducing new routes and short-loop circular routes to improve the efficiency and reach of public transportation in Kochi.
