CPPR Chairman, Dr D Dhanuraj’s comment on India’s first water metro, the Kochi Water Metro, featured in The Hindu.

An efficent Water metro network in and around Kochi can make a huge difference to the public transport requirements. The Water Metro is nothing but a revival of ferry services that existed in Kochi decades ago, with modern vessels. How these boat jetties are integrated into other modes of transport will determine the efficacy and utility of the Water Metro. In the future, the Water Metro should consider opening up the sector to private operators. Efficient last-mile connectivity has to be incorporated into the comprehensive mobility plans.
