Since the emergence of the nation-state system, the world has witnessed some of the major developments that have shaped our present international system. Events such as World Wars, Cold War, the formation of the League of Nations, the United Nations and various other international organisations and groupings have significantly impacted the working of the international system.
It is in this context, a course on Diplomacy and Global Affairs will help you understand how diplomacy has evolved in the changing international system and various interlinkages with which the whole world is knitted together. This course introduces students to the historical development of modern diplomatic practice in the context of recent international developments. It will give an in-depth understanding of diplomacy in contemporary International Politics which will help students to analyse the inter-related roles between nations on various aspects of society like rule of law, self-interest, religion, history and development.

T P Sreenivasan is a former Permanent Representative of India to the United Nations and Governor for India of the International Atomic Energy Agency. He served in the Indian Foreign Service for 37 years with postings in Washington, New York, Tokyo, Thimphu, Yangon, Kenya, Fiji and 8 other South Pacific Island states. He was a member of the National Security Advisory Board of the Government of India and Vice-Chairman of Kerala State Higher Education Council.

Gazi Hassan is a Research Scholar of International Politics. He has an MPhil in International Studies from MMAJ Academy of International Studies in Jamia Millia Islamia University, New Delhi. Was previously associated as Senior Research Associate with CPPR- Centre for Strategic Studies. Mr. Hassan’s research focuses on Indo-Pacific, particularly exploring geopolitical dynamics, developments related to trade, terrorism, the role of various actors and including the security dynamics of the region. He has also worked as a researcher at the Vivekananda International Foundation, New Delhi and has been contributing articles to SADF (Brussels) and various online platforms like Foreign Policy News (US), The Quint (New Delhi) among many others.

Yes, you have to attend all the webinars. However in case you are unable to attend any 1 (only 1) of the webinars, we provide a time-bound recorded video.
2Is any prior subject knowledge required to attend the course?
No, we have designed the course such that the students do not need a background on the topic. Anyone interested can attend the class.
3How will the series be taught?
The course is entirely online. Our faculty will guide you through Live Webinars. We will also provide reading materials and PPTs. There will also be guided discussions during the webinars to help you gain a deeper understanding.
4What happens after the webinars are over?
You will also continue to have access to the readings shared on the topic. You are required to submit an essay within a stipulated time.
