Panikkar” Organized as a collaborative effort between the Centre for Public Policy Research (CPPR) and the Kerala Museum, the gathering served as a formal space for the intellectual community to reflect on the profound impact of the late Marxist historian
The evening commenced with registration and tea, followed by welcome remarks from Aditi Nayar, Director of the Kerala Museum. A quiet moment of silence was held to honor and pay tribute.
The central intellectual segment of the event included a talk by Dr. P.S. Manoj Kumar, Professor at Sri C Achutha Menon Government College, Thrissur, who emphasised Dr. Panikkar’s landmark contributions.
Following the keynote, the floor was opened to participants, providing a platform for colleagues and students to offer personal tributes and recount Dr. Panikkar’s influence as a mentor.
The memorial concluded with the presentation of mementoes, followed by a vote of thanks delivered by Dr. D. Dhanuraj, Chairman of CPPR. The event effectively captured Dr. Panikkar’s enduring legacy as both a distinguished scholar and a committed public intellectual, whose work continues to shape the understanding of Indian secularism and social history.
