U.S. – India Trade Relations: To the Next Level

This event will explore the U.S.-India Trade relationship so far and will discuss ways in which it can be elevated to the next level.
In 2019, U.S. goods and services trade with India totalled an estimated $146.1 billion. Exports were $58.6 billion; imports were $87.4 billion. The U.S. goods and services trade deficit with India was $28.8 billion in 2019.
US India relations, over the last few years, have focussed more on strategic dimensions, with the Quad and the Indo Pacific region at the pinnacle, and the trade relationship has taken a back seat despite the evident potential. The two speakers will examine the US India trade relationship and discuss the opportunities and challenges that the two countries face as they try to realise their joint objective of elevating their trade ties to equal $500 billion.
The webinar will aim at identifying the gaps that are hampering the existing trade relations between the two countries. It hopes to come up with a concrete actionable agenda for US President Biden and Indian Prime Minister Modi to consider on trade issues.
