Dr Ramesh Chand, Deputy Director General (Agricultural Education), Indian Council of Agricultural Research to deliver the 8th CPPR Quarterly Lecture on “Agriculture Market – Setting New Development Agenda”. The Lecture will be a part of the seminar with the partnership of FICCI, Kerala Chapter and supported by NABARD, Kerala region. Agriculture Market - Setting New Development Agenda

          Dr Ramesh Chand is currently Deputy Director General, Agricultural Education, Indian Council of Agricultural Research, New Delhi. Till recently he worked as Director, National Centre for Agricultural Economics and Policy Research (NCAP) of ICAR. Before this he worked as ICAR National Professor (2006-10). He took his Ph. D. in Agricultural Economics from Indian Agricultural Research Institute, New Delhi and is a Fellow of National Academy of Agricultural Sciences, India, New Delhi, Indian Society of Agricultural Economics, Mumbai, Representative of India in Executive Committee of Asian Society of Agricultural Economists. Dr Chand has more than 30 years experience in research and teaching. He has worked in senior academic positions as Professor and Head – Agricultural Economics Unit, at Institute of Economic Growth, Delhi University; Professor of  Marketing at Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana; Principal Scientist at NCAP; and Acting Director NCAP.

His International experience include as Visiting Professor at University of Wollongong, NSW Australia (2000) and Visiting Fellow at Institute of Developing Economies, Chiba Shi, Japan (2003).  His Ph.D. thesis, submitted to Indian Agricultural Research Institute, New Delhi, was selected for Jawaharlal Nehru Award of Indian Council of Agricultural Research in recognition of its outstanding Research contributions. He is the Recipient of Rafi Ahmed Kidwai Award 2010.

Dr Chand has worked as consultant for FAO, UNDP, ESCAP, and World Bank. At present he is engaged in research on Food Policy, Trade and WTO, and Agricultural Growth and Development. Actively involved in policy formulation as a Member or Chair of several high level Committees constituted by Central Ministries and Organizations.  He serves as Technical expert for inter governmental Meetings like G 20, SAARC, UN –ESCAP and FAO. Author of seven books and more than 100 research papers published in reputed national and international journals. He is also the Chief Editor, Agricultural Economics Research Review.
