Civitas Consultancies conducted the Study on Autorikshaw and Para-transit system in Chennai for City Connect Foundation, Chennai where CPPR provided research input for the study. The socio-economic study intended to understand the ‘state of autorickshaw and Para-transit (IPT) systems’ and mapped their role in facilitating the mobility of the people in the city. The study included interviews with auto-rickshaw drivers, policy studies of the existing structures governing the sector, socio-economic well-being of the auto drivers, passenger interviews and difficulties the drivers faced. A comprehensive report was prepared and recommendations were given to the Government of Tamil Nadu. For more information on the project visit
