D Dhanuraj, the founder chairman of CPPR, a Kochi- based think-tank, said the increase in the sale of EVs would be a bane for the state. “Recently, a foreign country banned EVS after they failed to provide sufficient power to meet daily needs. We are also running short on power. If the number of EVs goes up, it will result in a hike in power tariffs. If the situation goes like this, the roads will be congested. Instead of promoting EVs, public transport needs to be given more importance,”Dhanuraj said.
