ICWA – CPPR ESSAY COMPETITION

    • 1st prize – Rs 15,000
    • 2nd prize- Rs 10,000

    • 1st prize – Rs 25,000
    • 2nd prize- Rs 15,000

As we approach 74 years of India’s Independence, we believe it is important to understand what India’s Foreign Policy means to the youth of the country and inculcate in them a deeper understanding of India’s Foreign Policy and engagements in World Affairs.
As part of its ‘Awareness Programme on Indian Foreign Policy’, Indian Council of World Affairs, New Delhi in collaboration with Centre for Public Policy Research, Kochi announces the first edition of the ICWA-CPPR Essay Competition in Malayalam for school students (15-18 years) and undergraduate/postgraduate students (18-25 years).
Topics
Junior Level (15-18 years) & Enrolled in std 11 or 12- 1500 Words
  • How can India become a global power?
  • or
  • What are the ways in which India can build its relationship with its neighbours?
Senior Level (18-25 years) & Enrolled in UG or PG courses- 2500 Words
  • What should India's role be in the post COVID global order?
  • or
  • What are the new dimensions of India's neighbourhood policy? [Case Study is encouraged]
Important Dates
    ➢ All Essays should be sent to academy@cppr.in latest by 18:00 hrs (Indian Standard Time), 31st October, 2020 with subject line clearly mentioned as ‘ICWA-CPPR Malayalam Essay Competition 2020’.
    ➢ The results will be declared on 1st November, 2020
Essay Submission Requirements:
    ⮚ The essay must be written in Malayalam only.
    ⮚ The essay can be :
    • Typed and converted to a PDF format document and e-mailed to academy@cppr.in or
    • Legibly handwritten, scanned and PDF format document e-mailed to academy@cppr.in
    ⮚ The essay should be an unpublished, original piece of writing. Plagiarised content shall lead to disqualification.
    ⮚ Only one essay per author may be submitted
    ⮚ Only individual entries are permitted.
    ⮚ The entries should be submitted along with a certificate from School/Institute/College/University where the participant is currently enrolled.
    ⮚ The entries should include a separate cover page carrying the following personal information:
    • Name of the participant.
    • Age and Date of Birth
    • Class/Programme
    • Name and Address of School/College/ University
    • Father/Mother Name
    • Residential Address
    • Mobile & Landline Numbers and
    • Email Address.
    • A short bio of the author in 100 words
No personal information should be provided on the Essay sheet.
    ⮚ The decisions of the Selection Committee shall be final and binding on all participants. The Committee may seek clarifications on any aspect (including age) of an entry from the participant, and if the same is not furnished within the given time, the entry could be disqualified.
    ⮚ Any legal proceedings arising out of the competition/ its entries/ winners shall be subject to local jurisdiction of Delhi State.
Evaluation Criteria:
    ⮚ All the entries received within the due date will be placed before a Selection Committee for final selection. The decision of the Selection Committee will be final and binding on all the contestants.
    ⮚ The essays will be evaluated on the basis of the following criteria:
    • Relevance to Topic ( 20%)
    • Coherence and Organization in Structure (20%)
    • Creativity (40%)
    • Clarity in Language, Expression and Style and grammar/spelling (20%)
Guidelines
    ⮚ Soft copies must be sent only in PDF Format.
    ⮚ For typed documents:
    • Font size would be 12
    • Line spacing would be 1.5 only.
    • Paper Margins: allow 1-inch margins on all four sides and justify text on both sides
    ⮚ Each submission must have its own Title on the basis of the topic selected.
    ⮚ Number of Words:
    • 1500 words for Junior level participants
    • 2500 words for the Senior level category.
