Centre for Public Policy Research (CPPR), Kochi, in collaboration with the Council on Energy, Environment and Water (CEEW), New Delhi, organised a one-day workshop in Kochi, Kerala on 10th August 2022 from 10:30 am to 3:00 pm. The theme of the workshop was “Stakeholder Discussion on Improving the Livelihood of Transport Workers in Kerala.” With the increasing urbanisation in Kerala, it has become imperative to address the challenges faced by the public transportation sector in the state. The workshop aimed to bring together the public transportation providers in Kerala to identify and critically analyse various challenges faced by them as stakeholders of the transport sector. This helped in giving them a platform to voice their everyday challenges and explore possible solutions for them, which in turn would help in improving their livelihood through technology, cooperation and coordination. The workshop was successful in accommodating the bus, auto and taxi sectors under the public transport system umbrella to ensure a larger vision for sustainable public transport in the state so that the sector continues to improve connectivity. The discussion focussed on the operational, infrastructural, policy level and financial challenges faced by the stakeholders.
