Law, Liberty and Livelihood (L3)

Law, Liberty and Livelihood Project (L3) is a research project aimed at documenting the livelihood regulations and entry level barriers governing the informal sectors in the 63 Indian cities identified for Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM) intended to shed light on legal hassles faced by the informal sector in India and to bring public attention towards it. The project commenced in June 2007 and was implemented in partnership with Centre for Civil Society (CCS). This project is funded by Sir Dorabji Tata Trust, Mumbai. The data collected from these cities have been uploaded on www.livelihoodfreedom.in. CCS and CPPR has been leading campaigns to change existing laws that are detrimental to inclusive growth of the informal sector.
