Prof. (Dr.) G Gopakumar,  Former Dean and Head of Social Sciences, Kerala University and currently UGC-Emeritus Fellow will speak on Psephology studies, study on elections and voting at the CPPR Winter School 2013. He is also advisor to CPPR and has been one of the pioneers in the area of electoral studies in India.

Prof Gopakumar is an approved Research Guide of the University of Kerala since 1983. He has produced twenty-six Ph.D. Theses and fifty M.Phil Theses. He has thirty five years of teaching experience in Political Science at the University level. His areas of specialization include comparative Politics (with focus on the political systems of USA, India, Canada, France, UK, Australia, and China), Politics of Developing Areas, andState Politics in India.

Prof. Gopakumar has so far published nine books and hundred and twenty five articles.

He has received several other awards including :

1. Senior Fellow, Australia-India Council, 2009. Visited Australia and affiliated to Monash University, Melbourne during June-July, 2009 to study on “Australian Multiculturalism and its Linkages with Federalism

2. Faculty Enrichment Fellowship, Shastri Indo-Canadian Institute Award to work on Canadian Foreign Policy in the Era of Globalization, at Mc Gill University, Montreal, Canada during July-August 2006

3. Visiting Faculty, School of Politics and Economics, Claremont University, California taught a course on Democratic Decentralization in India and USA during Fall Semester, 2003

4. Visiting Faculty in the University of Calgary, Canada for the Summer Semester 2001. Taught two courses and researched on Canadian Multiculturalism

5. Shastri Indo-Canadian Institute Fellow at the University of Calgary during spring 2000. Worked on Canadian Multiculturalism and its linkages with Federalism
