Digital RTI Mission
The project aims at creating a Wiki RTI platform where everyone can access information, a consolidated front that can offer information on specific Government programmes, user friendly and readymade analysis on Government schemes built on powerful software’s..
It is commonly understood that a lot of replication in the exercise is happening at different places to get the same end product using RTI platform. This not only turns out to be a waste of resources but also a burden on the state exchequer. In order to minimize the loss, we need to close the loop and then find a common platform where all the information is shared across. This can be offered on a wiki platform. Using this platform, one can generate indices like transparency, policy evaluation, cost and expenditure etc that can be compared across the tables.
The project involves compilation of information generated using RTI and provide a user friendly access on a digital platform that can be reproduced in any other form for communication purposes, networking with at least one RTI group from each CDS and a minimum of 50 activists in Kerala, standardization and evaluation of various Government schemes operating at village level using user friendly tables and analysis
Law, Liberty and Livelihood Law, Liberty and Livelihood Project is a research project aimed at documenting the livelihood regulations and entry level barriers governing the informal sectors in the 63 Indian cities identified for Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM) intended to shed light on legal hassles faced by the informal sector in India and to bring public attention towards it. The project commenced in June 2007 and was implemented in partnership with Centre for Civil Society (CCS). This project is funded by Sir Dorabji Tata Trust, Mumbai. The data collected from these cities have been uploaded on www.livelihoodfreedom.in. In the second phase of the project, CPPR intends to campaign to change existing laws that are detrimental to inclusive growth of the informal sector.
Cities Covered Under the Study: Agartala, Agra, Ahmedabad, Aizwal, Ajmer-Pushkar, Allahabad, Amritsar, Asansol, Bangalore, Bhubaneshwar, Bhopal, Bodhgaya, Chandigarh, Chennai, Coimbatore, Dhanbad, Dehradun, Delhi, Faridabad, Gangtok, Guwahati, Haridwar, Hyderabad, Imphal, Indore, Itanagar, Jabalpur, Jammu, Jaipur, Jamshedpur, Kanpur, Kochi, Kohima, Kolkota, Lucknow, Ludhiana, Madurai, Mathura, Meerut, Mumbai, Mysore, Nanded, Nagpur, Nainital, Nashik, Panaji, Patna, Pondicherry, Pune, Puri, Raipur, Rajkot, Ranchi, Shillong, Shimla, Srinagar, Surat, Thiruvananthapuram, Ujjain, Vadodara, Varanasi, Vijayawada, Vishakhapatnam.

Interns did not get any official response from the concerned pubic offices in Aizwal and Itanagar. However, if the verbal statements of the officials in these cities were to be believed, there are no rules governing any of these professions in these cities. Thus the project successfully documented the regulatory procedures governing the informal sector in 61 cities. For further information go to: www.livelihoodfreedom.in.
