The project aims at creating a Wiki RTI platform where everyone can access information, a consolidated front that can offer information on specific Government programmes, user friendly and readymade analysis on Government schemes built on powerful software’s. Using the Wiki platform, one can generate indices like transparency, policy evaluation, cost and expenditure etc that can be compared across the tables.
The major objectives of the project are:
• Compilation of information generated using RTI and provide a user friendly access on a digital platform that can be reproduced in any other form for communication purposes. • Networking with at least one RTI group from each CDS and a minimum of 50 activists in Kerala. • Standardization and evaluation of various Government schemes operating at village level using user friendly tables and analysis
The timeframe for the project is 10 months starting from October 2009 to July 2009. The copy of the so far filed RTI applications will be obtained from the major Public Information Offices and State Information Commission. It will be then digitalized and the information will be provided into a Wiki platform. The platform is built in such a way that anyone can feed wiki site. This offers tremendous scope for incorporating all the RTI activists groups across the state. RTI inputs are fed to the wiki platform in five major sectors viz., health, road and transport, power, water, and education. A Ranking and bench marking of the government programs in these five sectors are done during this phase. Using the information collected, a balance score card approach is evolved by which the analysis of various schemes initiated by the Government is done. This will in long run help to keep vigilance on the Government role on the various policy matters and how the departments and officials respond to the various situations.

Urban Research
This wing dwells into the importance for urban research as more than half of the world’s population lives in urban areas. Over 90 percent of urban growth is taking place in the developing world. Over 1 billion people live in slums worldwide. Aproximately 360 million people live in the low elevation coastal zone in urban areas. These increasing issues relating to traffic, transport and infrastructural set up in urban areas has led to a paradigm shift in the way we move forward. Urbanization is now considered a key element in promoting economic growth, if well managed. CPPR has taken up this initiative with the focus to help the corporation to find solutions to the urban problems in Kochi, recommend policy changes and to make sure that the policies are implemented on time.
