Foundation stone laid for Mobility Hub, Vytilla

The foundation stone for Mobility Hub in Vytilla was laid by Hon’ Chief Minister of Kerala V.S Achuthanandan on 7 June 2010. Speaking on the ceremony, he sought the support of all sections of society for the successful implementation of the government's development projects. The traffic scenario in Kochi would be worse on the commissioning of the Vallarpadam and LNG terminal projects. The 3-lakh-sq-ft project would have world-class facilities and is considered as a major step towards solving the traffic snarls in the city.
Dr. Beena IAS, the Managing Director of Vytilla Mobility Hub Society welcomed the guests on the occasion.  She claimed that the immense support from the public, civil society organizations and media influenced the implementation of first ever Mobility Hub in India. She acknowledged CPPR for its contribution.
The Nodal Officer of Vytilla Mobility Hub Society T.K Jose praised Government of Kerala for its support in the development projects in Kochi. He acknowledged CPPR for its role in the change of Bus terminal to Mobility Hub. The presidential address was given by Local Administration Minister Paloli Muhammad Kutty.  Fisheries Minister S. Sarma and Transport Minister Jose Thettayil inaugurated the office of the Hub and launched its website respectively.
The project is to be executed in two phases. The first phase comprises the inclusion of KSRTC and private bus station. The bus bay will be allocated in two floors for the buses, i.e., passengers can get in/out at the basement, and the buses will be parked in the first floor.  An air-conditioned tube too has been planned, to connect the terminal to the western side of Vytilla junction. The tenders for the concerned project are floated and the concerned authorities hope that the first phase of the project be completed by February 2011.
