ADR Centre has formally tied up with Rajagiri Legal Aid Cell and Rajagiri Outreach Initiative for providing awareness about ADR mechanisms especially Mediation in various grassroot level centres. Rajagiri has a good network at the village and Panchayath level consisting of people from diverse areas and communities. The partnership aims to bring awareness about the alternative systems and to develop the culture of mediation rather than litigation. It has been decided that the tieup would cover areas in Ernakulam District in the initial phase with around 10 programmes per month targeting around 50 people in each programme. The First programme started in Vaduthala with around 35 people attending mainly consisting of women flock. It was received well by the people and they had many issue legal and personal issues. Feedback forms were given and the Centre is in touch with the people for all legal support. The second programme was conducted in Pattimattom with around 60 active people who had different issues. Many of them confronted with Property and family issues. They were more interested in mediation and found litigation a burdensome process especially since they do not have the financials to fight a case before the court. From the responses, the Centre would decide whether to conduct an Adalat to redress the grievances of the people. Further programmes are to be conducted in Mattanchery, Palikkara, Udaya and Kissan Colony in this month.

URBAN GOVERNANCE
Urban Research
This wing dwells into the importance for urban research as more than half of the world’s population lives in urban areas. Over 90 percent of urban growth is taking place in the developing world. Over 1 billion people live in slums worldwide. Aproximately 360 million people live in the low elevation coastal zone in urban areas. These increasing issues relating to traffic, transport and infrastructural set up in urban areas has led to a paradigm shift in the way we move forward. Urbanization is now considered a key element in promoting economic growth, if well managed. CPPR has taken up this initiative with the focus to help the corporation to find solutions to the urban problems in Kochi, recommend policy changes and to make sure that the policies are implemented on time.
